All Saints' Day
Autor: Jasna Mikić, 3. 11. 2017.

All Saints' Day is a Christian festival celebrated annually  on the  November 1, in honour of all the saints, known and unknown. It is a solemn  holy day and people don't go to work on that day. Also, children don't go to school. Families gather and visit the cemetaries and bring flowers to the graves of the deceased relatives. The most popular flowers are chrysanthemums in white and yellow colour. On November 2, All Souls Day , we remember all those who have died  but not reached heaven yet, pray for their souls and lit candles. The light of the candle symbolizes the Christ's victory over death.Christians also attend local churches during the congregation.Every year our 1st to 4th grade pupils, together with their teachers, visit the local Đakovo's cemetary and light a candle on the central grave, saying a prayer for all those who have deceased .
